About the role
Melbourne Private is looking to hire a menu monitor to join our busy food services department. Our team works together to provide safe and clinically appropriate nutrition from food, beverages and specialised nutrition products to hospital patients. You will work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment that strives to deliver outstanding healthcare to our patients. This will be on a permanent part time basis.

As a Menu Monitor tour responsibilities will include:

·       Selection and collation of patient meals and printing relevant reports

·       Checking accuracy of special dietary requirements for patient meals

·       Participating in tray-line services, in accordance with our policies, procedures and standards


Essential criteria

·       Ability to clearly communicate with patients, families, and staff to assist with menu selection and address concerns. 

·       Understanding of therapeutic diets, allergen-free meals, and texture-modified diets to ensure patient safety and nutritional needs are met. 

·       Food Handling Certificate (or equivalent) is required, along with a strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards. 

·       Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team. 

·       Previous study or knowledge in a relevant area, such as nutrition or dietetics, is desirable. 

·       Experience in a hospitality or health setting, particularly in patient meal coordination, is beneficial. 

·       Hygiene & Presentation: A high standard of personal hygiene and presentation. 

·       Customer Service: A courteous and respectful manner with the ability to offer high-quality customer service. 

·       Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively. 

·       A willingness to assist others as needed and approach tasks with a positive attitude.

Melbourne Private hospital is a 124- bed private hospital co- located at the Royal Melbourne in the heart of Parkville, 1.7km from Melbourne CBD. Our hospital offers highly specialised services including extensive neurosurgery, neurology, advanced coronary care, cardiothoracic, orthopaedic, and general surgery. These services are supported by a 10 bed intensive care unit, 4 bed acute coronary care unit and 6 bed neurosurgical high dependency unit.
