Surgical Liaison Manager

Location: Sunnybank Private Hospital 
Employment Type: Full time permanent role

About the Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Surgical Liaison Manager to join our team. Reporting to the POSM this pivotal role supports patients and families throughout their surgical journey, ensuring seamless communication between clinical teams and stakeholders, and enhancing the overall patient experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary contact for VMO rooms regarding surgical procedures and care coordination.
  • Liaise with surgical, nursing, and administrative teams to optimise patient flow and theatre scheduling.
  • Support resolution of operational concerns and contribute to service improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor patient satisfaction and report on key performance indicators.
  • Champion patient-centred care and uphold ethical standards.
  • Maximise theatre utilisation by monitoring cancelation and potential ad hoc opportunities
  • Work at least 72 hours in advance predicting theatre equipment and skills required to support safe and efficient service delivery  
  • Utilise data to initiate and drive improvement
  • Operationally liaise with and manage the theatre bookings team

About You:

  • Proven experience in a healthcare setting, within theatre/surgical services.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Familiarity with hospital systems and clinical workflows.

Overview:
A Surgical Liaison Manager acts as a key point of contact between surgical teams, and hospital administration. The role ensures smooth communication, coordination of care, and resolution of concerns related to surgical services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate patient flow and surgical scheduling to optimise theatre utilisation.
  • Address concerns with empathy and professionalism.
  • Collaborate with nursing, medical, and administrative staff to ensure continuity of care.
  • Monitor and report on service delivery metrics and patient satisfaction.
  • Support complaint resolution and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in healthcare or hospital administration, ideally in theatre services/floor coordinator.
  • Ability to manage complaints and resolve conflicts.
  • Knowledge of ethical standards and patient rights.
  • Familiarity with hospital systems and clinical workflows.
  • Leadership and team coordination capabilities.
